About the position

The Knowledge Management (KM) Principal will design, employ, administer, and mature the business' comprehensive KM strategy. This new position will work with key business stakeholders, technical experts, practice groups, and departments to create the framework to better organize, distill, and present information in the context of solutions for business challenges. This individual will work with Senior Business Leaders and collaborate with Technical Experts, practice, and interest groups throughout FM&T's various departments, providing Subject Matter Expert (SME) solutions for FM&T's KM program framework, processes, and systems. The KM Principal will immediately assess and baseline the current-state KM culture, executing a risk-reduction strategy to mitigate the loss of critical knowledge. They will develop a multi-year programmatic maturity roadmap for the KM program, possessing and maintaining a deep working knowledge of KM industry practices, information technology concepts, and process-improvement practices. Proactively establishing relationships across business functions will be essential to identify business needs, manage Senior Leadership stakeholder expectations, and identify and leverage KM Champions. Collaboration with the IT department will be crucial to leverage in-place and forecasted software applications and other technology. The KM Principal will also work with Human Resources & Talent Management and Learning to integrate KM culture into workforce development and training initiatives. They will influence Senior Management adoption of KM strategy, process, and system solutions, and best practices through deliberate change management. The role includes benchmarking and leveraging NSE-wide best practices for immediate, measurable KM wins, developing, analyzing, and reporting on KM metrics that drive desired KM behaviors. As a KM ambassador, the Principal will provide relevant training, support, coaching, and success stories to champion KM culture and enhance the workforce's understanding of KM principles and their value. They will self-direct work and provide scalable and customized KM solutions and best practices to a wide range of senior leader stakeholders, functional leaders, and senior managers. The KM Principal will serve as the SME point of contact for KM framework and processes, creating, maintaining, and updating process, procedure, and product documentation, while capturing, monitoring, and recording the use of KM systems. They will analyze, interpret, and trace information for historical authenticity and significance, improving accessibility across various functional areas and mission programs, and preserving historically significant artifacts and information. The role may also involve providing work direction to others and performance feedback as requested.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, information systems, information technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of nine years of relevant and directly related experience.
  • Industry Recognized KM Manager Certification.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management.
  • United States Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced Certification(s) in Records, Information, or Knowledge Management.
  • Experience with Federal Government standards and regulations for records and information management.
  • Experience developing and successfully executing cultural change management plans.
