About the position

The Knowledge Management Research Systems Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting attorneys and clients by conducting high-level complex research and managing the firm's knowledge management initiatives. This position involves utilizing various research tools and resources to provide timely and cost-effective results, overseeing the department's resource management system, and implementing new technologies to enhance legal practice. The analyst will also maintain practice-specific resources and contribute to the firm's intranet development.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct high-level complex research for attorneys and clients.
  • Utilize appropriate fee-based and value-added resources to provide timely and cost-effective results.
  • Establish actionable intelligence alerts for attorneys.
  • Oversee the department's resource management system and ensure all research resources are accessible to the firm.
  • Support the firm's knowledge management initiative by investigating and implementing new technologies.
  • Maintain practice-specific resources and build out the firm's intranet.
  • Deliver in-depth research analysis to support client matters.
  • Analyze, summarize, and customize research results to meet specific requirements.
  • Foster strong working relationships with colleagues, outside libraries, vendors, and associations.
  • Prioritize multiple research projects while balancing tight deadlines and resource availability.
  • Track time for client billing purposes.
  • Conduct detailed interviews with attorneys to clarify information needs.
  • Evaluate the quality and cost of research tools and new technology.
  • Work closely with the KM Research Coordinator to streamline resource management.
  • Attend training sessions and keep abreast of new developments in KM and research resources.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Library Science or equivalent from an ALA accredited school.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a law firm library or corporate law library environment.
  • Familiarity with KM & research tools such as SharePoint, Westlaw, Lexis, and others.
  • Fluent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Outstanding communication skills for clear oral and written communication.
  • Ability to manage schedules, priorities, and deadlines effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with HighQ, Smartsheet, Kira, Drafting Assistant, Practical Law, and other research tools.
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • High sense of responsiveness to answer routine and urgent requests.
