About the position

The Knowledge Manager Specialist plays a crucial role in promoting organization-wide knowledge sharing and data stewardship within The University of Kansas Health System. This position is responsible for ensuring that the organization's information, experience, and ingenuity are effectively shared both internally and externally. The specialist will work closely with the electronic health record (EHR) and other systems, requiring advanced skills in Informatics, data evaluation, quality assessment, and project management. The role emphasizes collaboration with stakeholders to achieve data quality and standardization, ultimately supporting optimal patient and organizational outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates advanced understanding of data life cycle, structure, architecture, and flow.
  • Facilitates data quality, decision support, and business intelligence.
  • Develops and supports organizational data standardization through standardized nomenclatures and taxonomies.
  • Collaborates with operational and technical owners to develop definitions and standards for key data or process points.
  • Identifies data quality issues and collaborates with stakeholders to establish standards that uphold legal and ethical standards related to data security.
  • Participates in the procurement, customization, development, implementation, management, evaluation, and continuous improvement of systems.
  • Analyzes issues systematically and translates conclusions into timely decisions and actions.
  • Completes integrated quality assessments and coordinates remediation of complex quality issues.
  • Facilitates complex changes through implementation and post-implementation monitoring.
  • Promotes knowledge sharing through operational business processes and systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare related or business field
  • High School Graduate
  • 3 or more years of business and financial experience
  • 5 or more years of informatics experience
  • EPIC Proficiency/Certification as designated by role requirements within 180 Days
  • Demonstrates knowledge of computers and desktop software
  • Ability to work autonomously, demonstrating self-motivation and creativity
  • Excellent communication, writing, organizational, facilitation, and presentation skills
  • Ability to effectively interact with multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to manage several high priority projects simultaneously
  • Advanced working knowledge of computer spreadsheets and databases
  • Intermediate SQL skills
  • Experience with workflow process and design using Visio diagrams
  • Advanced proficiency in advanced Excel functions (Tables, Pivots, Formulas) preferred
