About the position

The KPMF Chief Medical Informatics Officer (CMIO) is an executive role responsible for developing and executing an informatics strategy for KP Medical Foundation Markets. This position aims to leverage informatics and technology to transform data into actionable insights for patients and healthcare providers, ultimately enhancing member service and value in care delivery. The CMIO will also address the potential negative impacts of Health IT on physician workflows and career satisfaction, ensuring that technology serves as a solution for efficiency and physician wellness.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Health IT strategy to meet the needs of KPCO and KPWA.
  • Provide leadership for technology components of the Value Based Platform.
  • Lead KPCO and KPWA Informatics Market Leaders and collaborate with KFHP VP for Care Delivery IT.
  • Influence informatics and Health IT strategy through participation in KP National IT and PMG IT leader groups.
  • Scout market and industry for changes in informatics and integrate relevant trends into KPMF and Risant strategies.
  • Facilitate Health IT Innovation in partnership with KPMF Innovation Leader.
  • Support standardized cybersecurity policy across both markets.
  • Ensure technologies remain relevant and adequately supported with appropriate resource prioritization.
  • Facilitate health information exchange across internal and network partners.
  • Sponsor development and execution of digital solutions.
  • Represent KPCO and KPWA in national committees and local IT Investment Budget meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements regarding technology.
  • Collaborate with Medical Director of Population Health Informatics for registry development and care gap outreach.
  • Partner with KP AI and emerging technologies leadership for safe strategy implementation.
  • Work with Medical Director of Documentation and Coding to improve chronic disease management documentation.
  • Incorporate an equity lens in all activities related to systems and program development.
  • Act as the clinical point of contact for cross-KP engagements related to informatics.

Requirements

  • MD or DO with experience in a healthcare business leadership role.
  • Completion of an approved residency program.
  • Board Certified by ABMS or member of ACPE or another appropriate accreditation.
  • Minimum ten years of experience in a complex healthcare setting with direct experience in partnership building and consulting.
  • Minimum eight years of experience leading the implementation and/or optimization of Electronic Medical Records.
  • Experience in managing IT strategy for a medical organization.
  • Familiarity with KP integrated model, operations, and markets is strongly preferred.
