About the position

The Associate Data Center Technician role at Genesis10 involves supporting the development and maintenance of system hardware and software in a 24/7 production data center environment. The position requires physical presence in the office to ensure effective collaboration and successful execution of responsibilities. The technician will be part of a team responsible for system integration, troubleshooting, and ensuring the availability of mission-critical servers.

Responsibilities

  • Support development effort in review of system hardware, software, and system design to assure system requirements are met.
  • Participate in all system/subsystem hardware and software integration and acceptance testing.
  • Set policy, monitor, prioritize, and develop standards for the production environment.
  • Design, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot infrastructure for multiple production environments.
  • Proactively suggest alternative solutions and designs to solve problems.
  • Respond to all system problems on a 24X7 basis and participate in on-call rotation.
  • Lead and participate in writing system, test, and test reporting documentation.
  • Ensure mission-critical servers are available and operating 24/7.
  • Administer servers and implement hardware and software upgrades.
  • Run production jobs as scheduled.
  • Monitor all server activity for problems and diagnose and resolve issues according to procedure.
  • Escalate problems to the appropriate levels necessary.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience deploying and supporting server and network devices in a 24/7 production data center environment.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting enterprise-class computer & network systems, and data center infrastructure.

Nice-to-haves

  • BA/BS Degree in technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Data center design and/or installation experience.
  • Experience with structured cabling, optic types, and cabling standards.
  • Experience with structured cabling installation.
  • Bicsi Registered Communication Distribution Designer (RCDD).
  • Certified Data Center Design Professional (CDCDP).
  • Experience working in Unix/Linux environment.
  • Experience with network troubleshooting.
  • Experience with project management including organizational, verbal, written, and analytical skills.
  • Experience in large organization and interdependent team dynamics.
