About the position
As a Level 1 Medication Aide (L1MA) at Provision Living, you will provide essential support and direct care to residents, administering prescribed medications in compliance with regulations. This part-time position requires effective communication with healthcare professionals and residents, ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained.
Responsibilities
- Participate in shift change meetings to communicate resident status or special needs.
- Administer prescribed medications to patients and maintain related medical records under the supervision of the nurse on duty.
- Verify the identity of patients receiving medication and record details of administration.
- Take vital signs or observe patients to detect responses to medications and report unexpected reactions.
- Present medication to patients and observe ingestion or administer medication as required.
- Document reasons for not administering prescribed drugs.
- Provide direct patient care, including bathing, dressing, and feeding patients.
- Report changes in resident medical conditions to physicians and families, ensuring completion of incident reports.
- Work with physicians and pharmacies to ensure proper medication orders and inventory management.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare providers.
- Ensure medication is stored securely and maintain medication inventory.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Current state Level 1 Medication Aide certification is mandatory.
- 2-4 years of experience preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
- Insulin certification preferred.
- Experience in a senior care community is ideal.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and manage multiple tasks.
