About the position

The Lab Accessioner plays a vital role in the laboratory environment, responsible for the accurate processing of patient specimens. This position involves receiving, verifying, and entering patient information into Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and CLIA regulations. The Accessioner also assists with documentation related to sample transport and clerical duties, and organizes patient samples to facilitate laboratory workflow.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, verify, and enter patient information into LIMS systems.
  • Assist in maintaining documentation involving transport and receipt of samples.
  • Organize patient samples for laboratory workflow.
  • Perform data entry based on patient requisitions and assist with administrative functions.
  • Sort and enter samples of human specimens into LIMS.
  • Manage molecular processing and customer care accounts.
  • Accession routine, stat, and send out orders of patient samples.
  • Prepare specimens for FedEx shipments or courier pick up.
  • Follow company policies and procedures, including OSHA guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness of lab station and perform quality control checks on test requests.
  • File paperwork in order and distribute to appropriate quality control files.
  • Assist with quality assurance audits and adhere to safety policies.
  • Verify patient information and enter ordered tests into the medical database.
  • Label and centrifuge specimens according to instructions.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and proper chain of custody for specimens.
  • Utilize LIMS and reference SOP materials for specimen processing.
  • Perform clinical support duties such as stocking supplies and assisting with inventory.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School diploma or GED required.
  • At least one year of experience in an office laboratory or medical office.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to multitask.
  • Basic computer skills and detail-oriented with proven accuracy.

Benefits

  • Full-time position with a starting pay of $18 per hour.
