About the position

The Lab Analyst in the Foundational Research and Applied Biomechanics department at the Philadelphia Phillies is responsible for transforming the biomechanics lab into a hub for player improvement and cutting-edge research. This role combines biomechanics expertise, baseball knowledge, and technical skills to create an engaging environment for players and coaches, focusing on player development and innovative research methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate a high-energy environment in the lab for players and coaches.
  • Design, collect data, and analyze experiments to address player development challenges.
  • Provide actionable biomechanics insights and develop interactive tools and reports.

Requirements

  • Strong organizational skills to maintain an efficient and inviting lab environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to engage effectively with coaches, players, and staff.
  • Experience in designing and conducting experiments, including baseline analyses and documentation.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and statistical software (R, S-Plus, SAS, or similar).
  • Knowledge of biomechanics and ability to analyze biomechanical data for actionable insights.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with interactive tools (e.g., Dash, Streamlit, Shiny) for data visualization and report generation.
  • Skills in predictive modeling, including model selection, feature engineering, validation, and performance evaluation.
  • Educational background with a Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Sports Science, Data Science, or a related field.
