About the position

The Lab and Field Materials Testing Technician at Terracon Consultants, Inc. is responsible for performing field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials. This role involves communication with various stakeholders regarding project requirements and results, as well as maintaining safety standards and quality control throughout the testing process. The technician will work under supervision, progressively taking on more responsibilities and training in the field.

Responsibilities

• Perform field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel.
• Communicate with project managers, engineering technicians, and client representatives regarding project requirements and testing results.
• Transport material samples to the laboratory for further testing and analysis, ensuring proper documentation is included.
• Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observations in written and digital reports for daily transmittal to the Project Manager.
• Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Assist with scheduling and dispatch of technicians to project sites as needed.
• Adhere to strict safety standards and report any safety issues to management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Construction related experience preferred.
• Obtain ACI certification within 90 days of hire.
• Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.

Nice-to-haves

• Obtain Nuclear Density Gauge certification within 6 months of hire.
