About the position

The Lab Assistant - Formulations position at Charles River Laboratories involves providing essential laboratory support and maintaining accurate records within the Laboratory Sciences department. The role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of laboratory functions, including inventory management, equipment maintenance, and compliance with Good Laboratory Practice Regulations (GLPs).

Responsibilities

• Receive, monitor, and maintain inventory and stock levels of assigned areas.
• Operate lab equipment and perform routine maintenance as needed.
• Prepare lab solutions such as buffers and media.
• Wash and dry glassware, keeping the glass-washing area clean and organized.
• Label tubes and perform laboratory set-up/clean-up.
• Organize and perform inventory of department refrigerators or freezers.
• Assist in archiving equipment/facility records.
• Assist technical personnel with clerical duties like filing and making copies.
• Record observations and measurements for basic lab/research tasks.
• Perform limited troubleshooting and maintenance of instruments as appropriate.
• Generate forms, tables, and hand record data.
• Ship, store, and document received supplies.
• Assist with laboratory supplies expiry checks and discard as needed.
• Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.).
• Detail-oriented with general familiarity with lab procedures.
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office software.
