The Lab Assistant/RMA or CMA position at Saint Mary's Regional Health System involves supporting laboratory operations by ensuring the proper collection, processing, and testing of patient samples. The role focuses on maintaining quality and accuracy in laboratory testing while assisting technicians and technologists with equipment maintenance and quality control.

Responsibilities

• Ensure proper collection, processing, and testing of patient samples.
• Perform testing of non-complex nature under direct supervision of MTs/MLTs.
• Assist technicians/technologists in routine maintenance, calibration, and repair of laboratory equipment.
• Ensure reliability and accuracy of all laboratory testing systems and equipment.
• Perform quality control testing.
• Maintain good communication with others and comply with clinic and laboratory policies.
• Ensure quality patient care at all times.
• Perform phlebotomy and point-of-care testing (POCT).
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Experience in a laboratory setting or relevant training as a Lab Assistant, RMA, or CMA.
• Knowledge of laboratory procedures and protocols.
• Ability to perform phlebotomy and other testing procedures under supervision.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
• Experience with laboratory equipment and quality control processes.
