About the position

The Lab Assistant-Phlebotomist PRN position at MountainView Hospital involves skillfully collecting blood and other body fluid samples from patients of all ages. The role includes specimen processing, patient interaction, and maintaining a clean and organized laboratory environment. This position is part-time and per diem, allowing for flexible scheduling while contributing to patient care in a supportive team atmosphere.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood samples and other body fluid samples from patients.
• Process specimens and manage laboratory results in accordance with hospital policy.
• Answer telephone calls and assist with patient inquiries.
• Maintain adequate stock levels on drawing carts and in the drawing room.
• Ensure a clean working environment in the processing and drawing areas.
• Utilize the lab computer system (Meditech) and other lab equipment effectively.
• Admit patients, file documents, and greet visitors in the laboratory.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid Phlebotomy certificate is required.
• Formal training as a Medical Assistant or graduation from an accredited Phlebotomy Training Program is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills are necessary.
• Understanding of Medical Terminology and computer knowledge is preferred.
• CPR certification is preferred.
• At least 6 months of work experience in a clinical laboratory is preferred, but recent graduates may be considered.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in Phlebotomy is preferred.
• Additional certifications related to laboratory work are a plus.
