About the position

Vesalius Therapeutics is seeking a Lab Automation Engineer to join their interdisciplinary team. This role is critical in designing, maintaining, and implementing lab instrumentation and integrated robotic systems that support drug discovery activities. The engineer will contribute to automation processes for in vitro cell-based assays and manage robotic systems for high throughput screening.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, establishment, and application of automation processes for in vitro cell-based assays.
  • Manage robotic arm enabled instruments and workstation-based systems for high throughput screening and sample management.
  • Create, modify, and troubleshoot robotics/automation scripts.
  • Identify and proactively troubleshoot technical issues, implementing solutions under limited supervision.
  • Provide hands-on training to end-users across various liquid handling platforms.
  • Maintain and support safe lab practices and environment, including quality control of instrumentation performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or related discipline with 3 or more years of lab automation experience.
  • Working knowledge of robotic systems, automated liquid handlers, and multimodal lab instruments.
  • Familiarity with assays and their workflows using automated liquid handlers and robotic systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently troubleshoot automated systems and quickly adapt to evolving technology and assay methodology.
  • Excellent organizational and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to work on cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic environment with a sense of urgency and creativity and focus on deliverables.
  • Team player with a strong work ethic, able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Continuously learns and adapts quickly to new information.
