Lab Manager

About the position

The position involves performing requested packaging testing, sharing data with the requestor, and leveraging GLIMS to maintain records of test results. The individual will support or execute trials at the Whippany Pilot Plant and serve as the Single Point of Contact for WPP staff. Responsibilities include creating or maintaining internal test methods and SOPs for each instrument and equipment type, purchasing supplies and consumables as needed while following MDLZ procedures, and maintaining a safe, organized, stocked, and tidy lab and pilot plant environment at all times. The individual will ensure that the data repository (Eureka, Teams, or other) is used for all tests and must be able to conduct tours of the lab to Senior Leadership.

Responsibilities

• Perform requested packaging testing and share data with requestor.
• Leverage GLIMS to maintain records of test results.
• Support or execute trials at the Whippany Pilot Plant.
• Serve as the Single Point of Contact for WPP staff.
• Create or maintain internal test methods and SOPs for each instrument and equipment type.
• Purchase supplies and consumables as needed, following MDLZ procedures.
• Maintain a safe, organized, stocked, and tidy lab and pilot plant environment.
• Ensure data repository is used for all tests.
• Conduct tours of the lab to Senior Leadership.

Requirements

• Experience in managing a Packaging Lab.
• Strong technical skills and ability to learn on the fly.
• 3-5 years of experience, preferably in the food industry.
• Ability to be a strong team player and provide guidance to Junior Engineers.
• Effective communication skills to the Packaging Development Team.
