About the position

The Lab Media Production Team Lead is responsible for managing manufacturing activities related to the production of Vitek susceptibility and identification media. This role involves ensuring compliance with cGMP, FDA, ISO, and other regulations while providing expert guidance on departmental technical and material topics. The Team Lead will oversee training, production scheduling, and inventory management, ensuring high-quality product delivery and adherence to safety and cleanliness standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all work in the Production Department safely according to company policies.
  • Maintain access to Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and promote safety programs.
  • Train new employees and coach existing team members to develop technical and leadership skills.
  • Track the progress of on-the-job training for new employees.
  • Report personnel issues or deficiencies to management as needed.
  • Provide expert knowledge of departmental procedures and uphold company policies.
  • Ensure all procedures reflect current methods used by the team and develop new procedures as needed.
  • Assist in coordination of training on technical updates and procedural revisions.
  • Assist management in APT meetings, technician scheduling, and shift reporting.
  • Ensure product completion and delivery to Card Production according to the production schedule.
  • Maintain communication with Card Production management for production updates.
  • Adjust breaks and lunches to meet production schedules with management support.
  • Schedule and edit product for manufacture in MES, AMDS, and SAP as needed.
  • Maintain and update manufacturing and inventory databases regularly.
  • Provide expert guidance with end of lot documentation review and corrections for Device History Record - Master Formulary.
  • Support cleanliness standards set forth in department 5S guidelines through frequent internal audits.
  • Maintain adequate inventories of lab supplies and chemical materials, initiating requests for additional equipment as needed.
  • Maintain FEFO for long-term stocks, broths, and chemical components.
  • Troubleshoot instrument and equipment repairs to prevent production delays.
  • Identify deficiencies and implement best practices to improve safety and reduce costs.
  • Participate in new product development and assist with transitions from R&D to production.
  • Perform other duties and projects related to lab and department operations as requested by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Chemistry with two years of wet chemistry and/or bench work experience preferred.
  • Associates Degree with 4+ years of wet chemistry and/or bench work experience.
  • High School Diploma/GED with 6+ years of wet chemistry and/or bench work experience required.
  • A minimum of two years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a complex, diverse environment with multiple demands using advanced problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate team members and manage schedules.
  • Ability to work independently and in groups with diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to effectively train and coach team members to enhance technical and behavioral culture.
  • Advanced knowledge of GLP/GMP and ISO guidelines, sterile techniques, and general laboratory procedures.
  • Strong PC skills (MS Office - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook; MES and SAP desired).
  • Ability to adapt to frequent changes in expectations and production demands.
