About the position
The Lab Tech 2 is responsible for receiving and processing specimens, performing clerical checks, and supporting laboratory functions. This role may also involve performing phlebotomy and requires effective communication and teamwork within the laboratory environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine laboratory procedures with limited error range.
- Sort, label, and record patient specimens.
- Set up specimens, materials, and equipment for Medical Technologist tests.
- Operate laboratory equipment such as centrifuges and cell washers.
- Maintain appropriate inventory of laboratory supplies.
- Communicate effectively with laboratory personnel and external customers.
- Participate in laboratory projects and educational activities.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Less than 1 year of experience in a laboratory setting.
- Phlebotomy skills for all age groups.
- Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions.
- Skill in using computers and related software applications.
- Knowledge of safety and infection control standards.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
