About the position

The Laboratory Technician Assistant 1 is responsible for ensuring accurate specimen processing to maintain specimen integrity and verifying product and/or test components during processing. This role involves managing specimen accessioning efficiently, performing billing and registration procedures, and communicating effectively with team members to optimize job performance and foster working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate specimen processing to maintain specimen integrity.
• Manage specimen accessioning accurately and efficiently.
• Perform billing and registration procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with team members.
• Evaluate specimens for acceptability per policy.
• Demonstrate proper techniques for excellent standards of care.
• Process referred tests and miscellaneous tests per facility policy.
• Review system pending reports for reference laboratory tests and resolve problems.
• Prioritize STATs and routine specimens as they arrive in the laboratory.
• Accurately enter patient demographics into HIS/LIS according to prescriptions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Preferred one year of experience working in a clinical laboratory environment or as a phlebotomist.
• Laboratory experience.
