About the position

The Lab Technician role at Codeworks is focused on supporting the operations of a high-performance computing (HPC) data center and lab for a leading healthcare technology company. This position is crucial for ensuring server uptime and maintaining safety standards within the lab environment. The ideal candidate will possess experience in lab settings, server management, and troubleshooting, contributing to a collaborative team dedicated to operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Work on-site in Waukesha, WI, Monday through Friday.
• Partner with the lead lab technician and a global development team to support daily data center and lab operations.
• Set up and configure new HPC hardware in the data center according to engineering requirements.
• Install and configure various SLES (SUSE Linux Enterprise Server) operating systems using both manual and automated deployment tools.
• Oversee the maintenance and repairs of approximately 100 servers, supporting both new and legacy systems.
• Modify and adjust systems to align with evolving development needs.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, networking, and software issues in real-time to minimize downtime.
• Track and manage lab inventory, including parts and supplies necessary for day-to-day operations.
• Maintain detailed trackers for system connectivity and machine status; escalate issues to team leads promptly.
• Ensure the lab meets Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) guidelines, keeping areas organized and hazard-free.

Requirements

• Experience in lab or data center environments is preferred.
• Familiarity with server hardware, operating systems (especially Linux), and basic troubleshooting.
• Strong organizational skills for inventory and status tracking.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team setting.
