The selected candidate will provide Windows Server and workstation system administration support to a vital enterprise Human Resource Applications and Services organization. This role is crucial as it supports two testing labs: the Language Aptitude Testing Lab, which facilitates the Language Proficiency and Language Aptitude Battery tests, and the Psychological Assessment Lab, which enables prospective personnel to undergo psychological testing required for hiring. The candidate must be an experienced Windows system administrator, comfortable working within a team to perform a wide range of system administration activities. These activities include the management, maintenance, and security of network infrastructure and servers for Windows 10/11 machines. The responsibilities will include setting up, installing the operating system, configuring, and maintaining Windows servers to ensure they operate efficiently and securely. This encompasses Active Directory management, network security, and networking monitoring and troubleshooting. The candidate will be tasked with diagnosing and resolving server-related issues, such as outages and application errors, as well as installing, configuring, and maintaining software applications that run on the servers, ensuring compatibility, updates, and proper functionality. Additionally, implementing security measures such as firewalls, regular security patches, and updates to safeguard the servers is a critical part of the role. The primary work location will be at the Government Site in Laurel, with occasional travel to the lab within a 10-mile radius about 2-3 times a week. The position requires a bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and fifteen (15) years of system administration experience, or twenty (20) years of system administration experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree. The candidate should have experience as a Windows System Administrator, knowledge of Windows Server Upgrade Service (WSUS), and experience with networking switch programming. A willingness to learn and develop a strong understanding of the products and technologies is essential, along with experience in developing and updating technical documentation. The candidate must be able to work during core hours of 10:00 am-2:00 pm, with exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis.
