About the position

As a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse at St. David's North Austin Medical Center, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive care to patients during labor and delivery. This position involves coordinating patient care, conducting assessments, developing individualized care plans, and facilitating discharge planning. You will also provide emotional support to patients and their families, ensuring a family-centered approach to care.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and provide patient care for all assigned patients in the Labor and Delivery unit.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of the patient and family.
  • Develop individualized patient care plans and provide family-centered patient teaching.
  • Identify and correct variances from the patient care plan and facilitate discharge planning.
  • Complete admission interviews and document patient assessments accurately.
  • Identify changes in the patient's condition and report them promptly to the physician or charge nurse.
  • Assess and document patient educational needs and instructions throughout hospitalization.
  • Provide psychological and social support to patients and families.
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary discharge planning and document patient responses to interventions.
  • Administer medications accurately and document them legibly.

Requirements

  • 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required.
  • Registered Nurse, Certified in Inpatient Obstetrics (RNC-OB) preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Registered Nurse, Certified in Inpatient Obstetrics (RNC-OB) preferred.
