About the position

The Labor and Delivery Unit Receptionist at Denver Health is a full-time night shift position responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to the Labor and Delivery unit. This role is crucial in ensuring smooth operations within the unit, which caters to both low and high-risk mothers. The receptionist will interact with patients, families, and staff, maintaining confidentiality and customer satisfaction while managing various clerical tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors incoming computerized or written orders in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Transcribes physicians' orders accurately and notifies RN of STAT orders.
  • Acts as a greeter to the unit, maintaining patient confidentiality and customer satisfaction.
  • Answers phones and call lights promptly, relaying patient information to nursing staff.
  • Activates patients in appropriate systems and prepares necessary paperwork.
  • Prepares discharge, transfer, or demise records and ensures they are ready for Medical Records.
  • Prepares laboratory slips, enters orders in the computer, and organizes charts.
  • Interacts professionally with colleagues and the public, participating in the peer review process.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years of clerical or customer service experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with problem-solving abilities
