About the position

We are seeking an enthusiastic professional Legal Assistant to join our Labor & Employment Group with a minimum of five years civil litigation and trial experience in our San Diego office. The right candidate should demonstrate resourcefulness and initiative, a desire to forge powerful relationships, hone their skills and deliver excellent work to advance their career at Quarles. This position involves supporting attorneys in connection with all aspects of case management, which includes assisting in preparing, proofreading, revising, and finalizing legal documents. The Legal Assistant will also be responsible for e-filing in state, federal, and appellate courts, maintaining confidential information, files, records, legal documents, and reports, as well as submitting intake and conflicts checks, processing time entry, and client billing. Additionally, the role requires maintaining attorneys' calendars, scheduling travel, appointments, meetings, and conferences, and performing other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Support attorneys in connection with all aspects of case management.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing, proofreading, revising and finalizing legal documents.
  • E-Filing in state, federal and appellate courts.
  • Maintain confidential information, files, records, legal documents and reports.
  • Submit intake and conflicts checks, process time entry and client billing.
  • Maintain attorneys' calendars, schedule travel, appointments, meetings and conferences.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of civil litigation law experience required.
  • California specific experience preferred.
  • Possess a positive attitude, be proactive, flexible and a team player.
  • Advanced Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe Professional.
  • Skilled with use of electronic document management systems including exceptional knowledge of local rules and procedures for filing in both California and Federal courts and e-filing, including calendaring.
  • Possess strong organizational, communication and client services abilities.
  • Excellent writing, proofreading skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize needs based on urgency, multi-task and work in a fast-paced team-orientated environment.
  • Ability to work overtime, when needed.
  • iManage and Compulaw experience a plus.
