About the position
The Labor Services Representative/Trainee position is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide program (NY HELPS). This role involves assisting jobseekers and employers by providing a range of services, including job placement assistance, resume development, and interview coaching. The position is designed to support individuals in overcoming barriers to employment and connecting them with available resources through the Department of Labor.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers by providing a broad range of services to jobseekers and employers.
- Interview customers to evaluate the nature of services desired, obtaining a complete work history including job experience, education, skills, salary ranges, and job preferences.
- Identify barriers to employment and develop solutions to these barriers.
- Provide intensive job placement assistance, including skills-based resume development and successful employment interview coaching.
- Conduct employment referrals and advocate for job seekers when applying for jobs.
- Provide information on resources available through the Department of Labor.
Requirements
- A bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited college or university.
- Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.
