About the position

The Labor Services Representative/Trainee position at the New York State Department of Labor involves assisting job seekers and employers by providing a range of services. Responsibilities

• Assist customers by providing a broad range of services to job seekers and employers.
• Interview customers to evaluate the nature of services desired, obtaining a complete work history including job experience, education, skills, salary ranges, and job preferences.
• Identify barriers to employment and develop solutions to these barriers.
• Provide intensive job placement assistance through skills-based resume development and successful employment interview coaching.
• Conduct employment referrals and advocate for job seekers when applying for jobs.
• Provide information on resources available through the Department of Labor.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited college or university.
• For candidates with degrees from outside the U.S., independent verification of equivalency is required.
• Eligibility for 55b/c designation if applicable, with a copy of the 55b/c letter required when applying.
