About the position
The Laboratory Assistant position at Clemson University is a part-time role focused on managing day-to-day laboratory activities and performing molecular biology experiments in a BSL-2 setting. Responsibilities
- Manage the lab for day-to-day activities.
- Perform molecular biology experiments with Aspergillus fumigatus in a BSL-2 setting.
- Culturing the fungal organism, manipulation of DNA, and PCR.
- Maintain lab supplies and perform ordering as needed.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent with work experience in a related health care or laboratory setting.
- 12 semester hours of academic training in biology and/or chemistry.
- Registration as a Certified Laboratory Assistant by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent registry.
- Successful completion of a formal program of instruction for laboratory assistants.
Nice-to-haves
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Microbiology, or Biochemistry.
- 1+ years of related work experience.
