About the position

The Laboratory Assistant position at Emanate Health is a per diem role that involves performing essential laboratory tasks under the supervision of the Director of Laboratory Services and other senior staff. The role focuses on venipunctures, specimen processing, and data entry, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of laboratory operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipunctures on adults and pediatrics and micro collections on infants.
• Participate in data entry and specimen processing.
• Communicate with clients to help resolve specimen concerns as required.
• Assist in performing laboratory assays as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
• Proficiency in phlebotomy techniques and medical/laboratory terminology required.
• Two years of acute care hospital laboratory experience preferred.
• One to two years of experience assisting in performing laboratory assays preferred.
• Ability to operate computer input terminal.
• Ability to perform phlebotomy techniques including special procedures such as blood cultures, finger and heel sticks.
• Fluent English communication skills required.
• Typing and word processing skills required.
• Excellent customer service skills required.
• Current California CPT (Certified Phlebotomy Technician) certificate required.
• BLS certification required.
