About The Position

The Laboratory Assistant position is a part-time overnight role focused on collecting and processing laboratory specimens. The assistant will perform routine duties specific to their assigned section, ensuring compliance with departmental policies and safety standards while contributing to the overall goals of the laboratory.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years of laboratory experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills are necessary.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Collects and processes laboratory specimens for analysis.
• Retrieves specimens and transports them to the laboratory using appropriate equipment.
• Logs specimens into the laboratory system and maintains accurate records.
• Bags and files specimens, discarding surgical specimens as necessary.
• Reviews specimen identity and investigates discrepancies, generating reports as needed.
• Maintains a clean and orderly work environment, reporting any unsafe conditions.
• Adheres to departmental policies, procedures, and quality standards.
