The Laboratory Assistant at Sonic Anatomic Pathology plays a crucial role in managing patient specimens and ensuring accurate data entry for technical testing. Responsibilities
- Receives, verifies, logs, and collects patient requisitions and specimens for technical testing.
- Opens and inspects all specimens to assure an accurate specimen count.
- Verifies patient requisitions for completeness of patient, client, and insurance information.
- Prepares and sorts patient requisitions, identifying and interpreting data for entry into the information system.
- Follows proper procedures with specimen rejection if information is submitted incorrectly.
- Enters data from patient requisitions and insurance cards into the information system following the displayed format.
- Reviews data entered with source documents and/or error reports and makes necessary corrections.
- Labels requisitions, specimen containers, cassettes, and/or slides, and affixes coverslips to slides.
- Routes patient requisitions after entry.
Requirements
- High School Diploma (minimum)
- State licensure, if applicable.
- At least 2 years of practical clinical or anatomic pathology laboratory experience preferred.
