About the position

The Laboratory Informatics Associate at Lilly is responsible for supporting laboratory operations by ensuring that electronic laboratory systems function as intended, particularly in terms of end-user functionality and compliance with company and regulatory requirements. This role involves interaction with IT support to develop and configure laboratory IT systems, troubleshooting, maintenance, and serving as a subject matter expert during audits. The associate will also mentor laboratory personnel on electronic lab systems and support continuous improvement of quality systems related to laboratory informatics.

Responsibilities

  • Support laboratory operations by ensuring electronic laboratory systems function correctly.
  • Interact with global and local IT support to develop and configure laboratory IT systems.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and upgrade laboratory IT systems.
  • Serve as a business representative for laboratory IT systems and mentor personnel on their use.
  • Support internal and external audits as a subject matter expert on laboratory IT systems.
  • Perform or support validation of laboratory equipment and software systems.
  • Maintain the validated state of software-based computerized systems in the laboratory.
  • Lead site deployment and upgrades of QC laboratory IT systems.
  • Collect data and author periodic review documents for laboratory information systems.
  • Provide oversight and support for continuous improvement of quality systems related to laboratory informatics.
  • Assist in the improvement of quality systems by creating or revising documentation and updating laboratory methods.
  • Support and/or lead investigations, CAPA, and change control initiatives.
  • Develop training materials and maintain a safe work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, life science, or applied science.
  • At least five years of relevant experience in a GMP lab.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer system validation and compliance requirements.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with LabVantage and Kneat systems.
  • Investigation and deviation management experience.
  • Experience with electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN) and various analytical instrument software systems.
