About the position

The LIMS Developer, also known as The Data Custodian, is responsible for designing and implementing Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) that enhance the efficiency and accuracy of laboratory operations. This role involves collaborating with scientists and IT specialists to create software solutions that streamline data management, ensuring secure and accessible handling of laboratory data. The LIMS Developer will focus on optimizing workflows, integrating lab instruments, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, ultimately transforming how laboratories manage and analyze their data.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement LIMS software tailored to laboratory needs.
  • Collaborate with lab managers and researchers to optimize workflows and ensure user-friendly LIMS solutions.
  • Build and maintain integrations between LIMS and laboratory instruments, as well as external databases.
  • Implement security measures to protect laboratory data and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Develop custom reports and data visualization tools for real-time insights into laboratory data.
  • Provide ongoing technical support, updates, and maintenance for the LIMS platform.
  • Stay updated with advancements in LIMS technology and laboratory workflows.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in designing and developing LIMS systems or similar laboratory management platforms.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, C#, or Perl.
  • Deep understanding of laboratory workflows, including sample management and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in integrating LIMS with lab instruments and third-party applications.
  • Knowledge of data security protocols and regulatory requirements like FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and ISO 17025.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in LIMS development with hands-on experience in laboratory environments.
