About the position
The Laboratory Sample / Material Coordinator role is a temporary position focused on the registration and inventory management of research samples. The coordinator will work closely with staff scientists to catalog samples stored in -70C freezers and maintain a sample management database. Additionally, the role includes laboratory management functions such as generating work orders, scheduling equipment maintenance, and conducting lab safety inspections.
Responsibilities
- Register and inventory research samples stored in -70C freezers.
- Catalog research samples and enter information into a sample management database.
- Generate work orders and schedule equipment maintenance.
- Conduct lab safety inspections.
Requirements
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or related field.
- Familiarity with MS Office (Excel) or other spreadsheet-based applications.
- Understanding of basic laboratory and cell culture techniques.
- 1 year of experience in cell culture (required).
Nice-to-haves
- Data entry or sample management experience.
- Knowledge of sample repository/sample inventory software / Benchling databases.
- Previous industry experience working with biological samples.
- Familiarity with biosafety level classification or infectious disease classification (BSL2 or BSL3 environments).
