About the position

The Laboratory Scientist in the Core Pathology Department is responsible for performing routine clinical diagnostic tests in a medical laboratory under general supervision. This role involves working with various laboratory sections and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards while contributing to performance improvement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hematologic, chemical, microscopic, morphologic, immunologic, and microbiologic patient testing according to established policies.
  • Work in various lab sections including Core Lab, Blood Bank, Microbiology, Virology, Molecular, Genetics, or Biochemical Genetics.
  • Set up new methodologies and develop procedural protocols.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities and support the hospital in meeting accreditation standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree or Graduate of MLT program.
  • Nationally recognized certification preferred based on assignment.
  • Knowledge of laboratory principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of chemistry, hematology, microbiology, transfusion medicine, and related laboratory specialties.
  • Skill in performing clinical laboratory work independently.
  • Ability to organize, analyze, and evaluate tests in terms of laboratory controls and methods.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools.
