About the position

The supervisor provides direct supervision of the daily operations of the laboratory section and/or area. The supervisor will oversee and efficiently perform procedures and tests as ordered for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease. The supervisor will oversee the maintenance of the analyzers, quality control, collection of specimens, and maintaining supplies in accordance with standards of practice and established policy and procedure. The supervisor will provide recommendations and action plans for the improvement of system processes in their section and/or area.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision of daily laboratory operations.
• Oversee and perform procedures and tests for diagnosis and treatment.
• Ensure maintenance of analyzers and quality control.
• Manage collection of specimens and maintenance of supplies.
• Develop recommendations and action plans for process improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or a closely related field.
• Three years of clinical experience, preferably in an acute care hospital setting.
• Demonstrated clinical competency in the specialty area applying for.
• Certification in medical technology or as a medical technologist by ASCP, AMT, or AAB required.
• For Anatomic Pathology: Certification in histology or as a Histotechnologist/Histotechnician/Cytologist by ASCP required.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous supervisory experience preferred.
