ATI is currently seeking a Lab Technician 6 (Machinist) for our lab department in Monroe, NC. This position is crucial for our operations, as it involves working with advanced materials that are proven to perform in various challenging environments, from the edges of space to the depths of the ocean. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, capable of working effectively within a team, and will possess a keen attention to detail. The role requires the ability to understand and follow work instructions while managing multiple tasks simultaneously. This is a night shift position, operating from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule. This means you will work for two consecutive days, followed by two days off, then three days of work, and repeat the cycle. Initial training will be conducted during the day shift to ensure that all new hires are well-prepared for their responsibilities. The position is graded based on skill points, which are determined by proficiency in various areas including chemistry, mechanical testing, metallography, and machining. Candidates will be evaluated on their ability to perform tasks such as chemistry preparation, mechanical testing of samples, metallography preparation, and operating various machine tools for sample sawing and machining. This grading system allows for recognition of skill development and proficiency over time, ensuring that employees are rewarded for their growth and contributions to the company.
