About the position

The Laboratory Technician - Microbiology at RTI Surgical Inc. is responsible for performing laboratory services, including specimen receipt, testing, and quality control in a sterile environment. This role supports the development and delivery of restorative solutions in the medical technology field, ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards while contributing to patient safety and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory services duties including specimen receipt and report distribution.
• Conduct non-licensed testing, interpret results, and review pending reports.
• Perform quality control of microorganisms, reagents, and equipment in the laboratory.
• Obtain and file specimen rejection forms and revision requests as needed.
• Identify microorganisms from solid and liquid media.
• Conduct microbial reads, Gram Stain, and operate Vitek instrumentation.
• Document and maintain all internal customer requests, discrepancies, and complaints, escalating to leadership for resolution.
• Adhere to all regulatory, safety, and sampling requirements.
• Assist in mentoring and training other team members.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2+ years of experience working in a laboratory, preferably in Microbiology.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in laboratory software and general laboratory bench techniques.
• Aseptic technique and sterile consciousness.
