About the position

The Laboratory Technical Coordinator for Flow Cytometry at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center is responsible for overseeing laboratory personnel and operations to ensure compliance and quality in laboratory processes. This role involves technical and scientific oversight of the clinical laboratory department, ensuring that laboratory results are accurately analyzed and interpreted, and that staff are trained and competent in their roles.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees laboratory personnel and operations to ensure compliance and quality.
  • Coaches laboratory personnel for adherence to relevant policies and ethics.
  • Analyzes and interprets laboratory results according to established processes.
  • Administers laboratory inventories including supplies and equipment.
  • Assists with the selection of appropriate test methodologies.
  • Verifies test procedures and establishes performance characteristics of tests.
  • Administers a quality control program for testing performed.
  • Trains staff and resolves technical problems, ensuring remedial actions are taken.
  • Ensures patient test results are reported only after corrective actions are taken.
  • Identifies training needs and provides regular in-service training for staff.
  • Evaluates the competency of testing personnel and ensures they maintain their competency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a chemical or biological science as defined by CLIA.
  • 2 years of clinical lab experience in the designated lab area/specialty.

Nice-to-haves

  • Three (3) years of Flow Cytometry experience as a Med Tech or Med Tech Specialist in a CAP/CLIA-accredited hospital or clinical laboratory.
  • Familiarity with BD FACSCanto II and FACSLyric instruments and FCS Express software.
