About the position

The Laboratory Technical Supervisor is responsible for the technical and scientific oversight of the laboratory, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results. This role involves selecting appropriate test methodologies, verifying test procedures, establishing quality control programs, and providing training and competency evaluations for laboratory personnel. The supervisor must be accessible for consultation and is responsible for resolving technical issues and maintaining compliance with established performance specifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and scientific oversight of the laboratory.
• Select appropriate test methodologies for clinical use.
• Verify test procedures and establish performance characteristics.
• Enroll in and participate in HHS approved proficiency testing programs.
• Establish and maintain a quality control program for testing.
• Resolve technical problems and ensure remedial actions are taken.
• Ensure patient test results are reported only after corrective actions are completed.
• Identify training needs and provide regular in-service training for staff.
• Evaluate the competency of testing personnel and ensure they maintain proficiency.
• Document the performance evaluations of individuals responsible for high complexity testing.

Requirements

• Licensed MD/DO/DPM or PhD certified in clinical pathology OR 1 year lab training or experience in high complexity microbiology with a minimum of 6 months in subspecialty of service.
• Master's degree in a laboratory science AND 2 years lab training or experience in high complexity microbiology with a minimum of 6 months in subspecialty of service.
• Bachelor's degree in a laboratory science AND 4 years lab training or experience in high complexity microbiology.
