About the position

The Laboratory Technician-Advanced position at Health Advocates Network involves performing essential laboratory tasks, including sample reception, preanalytical checks, and media preparation. The role requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure while adhering to safety and quality standards. The technician will also assist in maintaining inventory and data entry into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

Responsibilities

  • Sample reception and perform preanalytical checks and deliver them to the proper lab sections.
  • Perform media preparation, including pipetting with high accuracy and precision, use of a balance and pH meter, automated plate filler, and autoclave.
  • Assist with maintaining adequate inventory of supplies, reagents, and materials needed for testing.
  • Maintain tracking log of supplies, reagents, and materials either received or prepared in-house.
  • Perform sample accessioning and data entry into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Properly store specimens for short-term and long-term storage; retrieve and re-file samples for testing.
  • Assist laboratory personnel in cleaning duties and adhere to all quality and safety standards in compliance with corporate and applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Work closely with and communicate with other lab associates to complete daily activities efficiently.
  • Perform waste management tasks.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an associate degree in a scientific field or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • General laboratory knowledge and basic computer skills.
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Office software programs.
  • Willingness to work with potentially infectious human body fluids.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills; ability to work well under pressure and adapt quickly to change.
  • Strong ability to read, understand, and follow SOPs with keen attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Related laboratory experience preferred.
