About the position

The Laboratory Technician in the Clinical Microbiology Lab at Hunter Care Health is responsible for performing various microbiological tests and maintaining laboratory operations. This role is essential for evaluating patients' health and compliance with prescribed treatments, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment to conduct tests such as urine cultures and molecular diagnostics. The technician will work in a collaborative environment, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards while providing accurate and timely results.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cultures by inoculation for the detection of yeast, fungal, and bacterial pathogens.
• Conduct Identification/Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, including environmental monitoring and equipment maintenance.
• Adhere to laboratory SOPs and maintain compliance with CLIA, OSHA, and HIPAA guidelines.
• Report deficiencies for quality assurance and controls in the Microbiology lab.
• Communicate effectively with laboratory staff, clients, and customers regarding lab tests and results.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, Medical Technology, or Medical Laboratory Technician.
• 3 years of clinical microbiology experience, specifically in urine culture.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, and CLIA guidelines and regulations.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
