About the position
The Laboratory Technician I plays a crucial role in ensuring the timely and accurate processing of laboratory tests and procedures in compliance with established protocols and regulations. This position supports the coordination of clinical studies and is responsible for maintaining the integrity and safety of study participants while providing essential administrative and operational support to the site team.
Responsibilities
- Performs laboratory testing procedures (e.g., Alcohol Breathalyzer, Urine Drug Screen, COVID-19 testing) in compliance with study protocols and regulations.
- Supports the coordination of studies as needed.
- Assists in the preparation of reagents and calibration of equipment.
- Conducts Quality Control of laboratory documents and ensures the integrity of study participants.
- Provides administrative and operational support as part of the site team.
- Ensures timely printing and delivery of lab results to designated personnel.
- Schedules shipping arrangements with couriers as per Sponsor requirements.
- Communicates sample shipment notifications to Sponsors and respective labs.
- Retrieves confirmation of sample arrival from Sponsors.
- Serves as Client Services to Sponsors and ensures availability of adequate shipping supplies.
- Maintains a safe, clean, and organized working environment and records all shipping documents.
Requirements
- Advanced laboratory or medical procedure training or certification is preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in a clinical environment.
- 1 year of experience as a laboratory technician or equivalent, or medical assistant training.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with laboratory processing equipment and ability to aliquot biological specimens.
- Ability to obtain vital signs and perform ECGs.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
