About the position

The Laboratory Technician position at the Pain Institute of Georgia involves performing urine drug screens and supporting laboratory operations in a physician office setting. The role requires interaction with physicians, staff, and patients, and emphasizes the importance of maintaining accurate records and adhering to safety and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and calibrate the INDIKO Plus clinical analyzer for sample analysis.
  • Prepare samples and perform tests according to standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain a CAP and CLIA compliant clinical laboratory environment.
  • Order and receive supplies, ensuring sufficient stock and performing regular checklists.
  • Complete necessary paperwork accurately and timely, including consent forms and collection logs.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date records of all collected specimens.
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry while adhering to confidentiality regulations.
  • Perform initial quality checks on specimens to ensure they meet testing criteria.
  • Report any issues or discrepancies to the supervisor immediately.
  • Follow safety and infection control procedures to maintain a clean working environment.
  • Comply with regulations and company policies regarding specimen collection and handling.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information and test results.
  • Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with industry practices.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; an associate degree in Biology or related field is preferred.
  • Previous laboratory experience, particularly in analyzer operation and specimen collection, is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in basic computer software and data entry systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Additional certification or training in a related field is a plus.
