About the position

The Environmental Laboratory Technician position in Bremerton, WA, involves performing a variety of inorganic environmental analyses primarily for clients in the naval ship repair industry. The role includes daily laboratory functions such as sample management, data review, and maintaining laboratory organization and cleanliness. This position is ideal for individuals who can work independently and collaboratively, with opportunities for advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Enter samples from clients into the LIMS database
  • Ship samples to subcontractors via FedEx and/or UPS
  • Support off-site laboratories in VA and CA
  • Prepare and analyze samples delivered to the lab
  • Perform data review of analytical data
  • Generate final reports for supervisor review
  • Prepare standards and reagents for lab use
  • Perform recordkeeping duties as assigned
  • Manage inventory and ordering of laboratory supplies
  • Follow good laboratory safety practices and protocols
  • Clean and organize the lab as assigned
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in chemistry or biology (preferred)
  • Minimum of 24 semester hours of college-level chemistry
  • One year working with inorganic chemistry
  • One year working with ICP and IC in an environmental analytical laboratory
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office products/applications
  • Experience with computer-based scheduling/financial software
  • Sample preparation for instrumental analysis
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory equipment: pH meter, DI water system, analytical balance
  • Experience with basic lab preparation equipment: pipettors, volumetric glassware, analytical balance
  • Ability to follow written procedures for sample analysis and laboratory operations
  • Experience with record keeping, report generation, and reviewing reports
  • Familiarity with LIMS database: Promium Element
  • Experience with ICP-OES and Hg CVAA instruments
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proven problem-solving and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
