In this role, you will assist skilled craft workers in performing their assigned duties and may work in other crafts at levels appropriate to your training and skills as requested by project supervision. You must have the ability to take direction from a higher skilled worker or foreman. This position requires effective math skills, the ability to eliminate waste in various forms, and a commitment to safety practices. You will learn to safely and effectively use work-related tools and equipment, maintain positive working relationships with crew members, and produce high-quality work safely and productively at all times. Feedback is essential to ensure that all materials, tools, equipment, and information are available for the work.

Responsibilities

  • Assist skilled craft workers in performing their assigned duties.
  • Work in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision.
  • Take direction from a higher skilled worker or foreman.
  • Utilize effective math skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Eliminate waste such as waiting, rework, transporting, material storage, and time.
  • Ask a supervisor if unsure about any aspect of the work or issues regarding safe practices.
  • Learn and understand all safety hazards related to the work.
  • Safely and effectively use or operate work-related tools and equipment.
  • Look for opportunities for improvement in all tasks, means, and methods regarding the work.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with all members of the crew.
  • Produce high-quality work, safely and productively at all times.
  • Provide feedback to ensure all materials, tools, equipment, and information are available for the work.

Requirements

  • NCCER Core Curriculum and/or a High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • One year experience (level I), two years' experience (level II), and three plus years' experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry is preferred.
  • Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
