About the position

The Laborer I - Service Laterals position involves working in residential and commercial areas to assist in the construction, reconstruction, and maintenance of underground utilities. The role requires collaboration with a crew to complete daily tasks safely and efficiently, utilizing specialized equipment and adhering to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Assist crew leader in construction/reconstruction and maintenance work.
• Assist equipment operators, swamping, hand digging, and locating underground obstructions.
• Work with specialized equipment including jackhammers, rotary drills, and power actuated fasteners.
• Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
• Work safely around backhoes, excavators, trenchers, and dump trucks.
• Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
• Complete duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent desired.
• Experience working with underground utilities desired.
• Possession of a valid State of Residence Driver's License is required.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse climatic conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs multiple times during a work shift.
• Ability to climb, dig, work in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, walking, stooping, and kneeling.
• Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team with co-workers.
• Ability to pass motor vehicle, criminal background check, and comply with drug-free workplace policy.
• English usage sufficient to keep records, place orders, and prepare simple narrative reports.

• CDL A is a plus.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
