Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of tasks involving manual labor in heavy/highway construction projects such as directing traffic and setting up signs.
• Build fences and install erosion control measures.
• Use hand tools and power tools for various tasks.
• Excavate and fill trenches and ditches.
• Maintain a clean job site by securing tools and equipment daily.
• Handle and store materials, load and unload trucks, and haul materials as needed.
• Perform pre-shift safety inspections of assigned equipment.
• Report needed repairs and safety issues promptly.
• Participate in morning stretch and flex programs to ensure safety.
• Adhere to DOT and OSHA safety rules and company policies.

Requirements

• Must pass physical and drug screen.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including possible weekends, overtime, and holidays.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Some knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in heavy/highway construction work.
• Ability to perform manual tasks for extended periods in adverse conditions.
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices.

Nice-to-haves

• Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions is helpful.
