About the position

This position involves temporary appointments not to exceed 1039 hours, primarily focused on operating heavy power equipment and performing various labor-intensive tasks in national parks. The role is open to U.S. citizens and offers opportunities across multiple locations, with varying pay scales and seasonal entry-on-duty periods. The job requires physical fitness and the ability to work under diverse weather conditions, with responsibilities including equipment operation, maintenance, and janitorial duties.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy power equipment such as lawn mowers, chain saws, and brush cutters.
  • Load and unload supplies and materials from trucks and trailers.
  • Dig ditches and trenches, and perform tasks such as breaking up pavement and mixing concrete.
  • Perform janitorial duties for buildings and grounds as required.
  • Operate vehicles weighing up to 10,000 pounds in all traffic conditions.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record.
  • Ability to perform laboring tasks without more than normal supervision.
  • Physical fitness to lift and carry objects weighing over 50 pounds.

Nice-to-haves
