About The Position

The Laborer (NTE) position at the Department of Veterans Affairs serves as an Orderly responsible for supporting the needs of Veterans in the Roseburg VA Healthcare System. Requirements

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently move stable Veterans, alone or with nursing staff as needed.
• Assist with therapeutic recreation by transporting Veterans and ensuring their safety during programs.
• Support rehabilitation activities through patient transport and equipment assembly and delivery.
• Check Veterans' identification and escort them to their destination before transporting.
• Observe Veterans closely as per provider orders.
• Take discharged patients to the door to await transportation as requested.
• Assist with the care needs of Resident Pets in the Community Living Center.
• Provide excellent customer service and phone etiquette when receiving requests.
• Procure supplies and equipment from various facility areas as requested by the unit assigned.
• Transport lab specimens from the unit to the lab in approved containers.
• Disinfect and wipe down equipment before and after each Veteran transport.
• Round regularly on inpatient wards to ensure reusable equipment is clean and disinfected for staff use.
• Notify nursing or ancillary personnel upon arrival or departure of patients.
