About the position

The Laborer position at Hensel Phelps involves providing essential support and assistance to skilled crafts on construction projects. Laborers play a critical role in various tasks, including concrete operations, masonry work, and carpentry support, ensuring that projects are executed efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities

• Prepare areas for concrete placement through excavation and grading.
• Assemble concrete forms and assist in their placement.
• Handle concrete buckets for transferring concrete from trucks to placement areas.
• Muck concrete in slabs to ensure even distribution after pouring.
• Assist in stripping concrete forms and transporting them for storage after curing.
• Support block masons by handling and transporting materials like cement and bricks.
• Assist carpenters in handling and setting door frames.
• Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, ensuring proper distribution on site.
• Promote a safe work environment and communicate jobsite hazards.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Experience with a wide variety of construction machinery.
• Knowledge of maintenance of various construction equipment.
• Ability to take initiative and ask questions.
• Keen attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Effective and professional communication skills with co-workers and stakeholders.
• Strong mathematical reasoning and quantitative skills.
• Reliability and punctuality, including reliable transportation.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in construction layout, blueprint reading, and shop drawing reading.
• OSHA 10 Certification.
• CPR & First Aid Certification.
