About the position

The Art Teacher position at Ladoga and Walnut Elementary Schools involves teaching art to students from Pre-Kindergarten to 5th grade. The teacher will work under the supervision of the School Principal and is responsible for creating a safe and engaging classroom environment that promotes student success and growth in art. The role requires developing lesson plans, evaluating student progress, and maintaining classroom standards.

Responsibilities

• Teaches knowledge and skills in art.
• Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of art.
• Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with course standards.
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment in the areas of art.
• Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and work areas to ensure the overall safety of students.
• Evaluates academic and social growth of students, prepares report cards, and keeps appropriate records.
• Maintains control of storage and use of school property.
• Communicates with parents and school counselor on student progress.
• Effectively uses technology and resources for their class.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Valid Indiana teaching license.
• Basic technology skills, competent in the use of Google applications.
