About the position

David Weekley Homes is seeking a Land Acquisition Manager to join our San Antonio team! The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience in residential land acquisition, analysis, development or brokerage experience within the greater San Antonio area. This role is pivotal in assessing the feasibility of potential land purchases and managing the entire process from acquisition to lot delivery. The Land Acquisition Manager will work collaboratively with the Land team, along with the Regional and Division President, to ensure that all land acquisitions align with the company's strategic goals. In this position, you will be responsible for managing entitlement and site selection, conducting due diligence reviews, underwriting, and obtaining approvals for proposed new land acquisitions. Networking with developers, brokers, landowners, and other builders is essential to identify new land opportunities for David Weekley Homes. You will also maintain a high level of visibility in the home building business by actively participating in community, civic, and business organizations pertinent to the industry. The role requires you to manage and oversee the development of active projects from acquisition to lot delivery, ensuring that each newly presented opportunity is evaluated in the context of the company's business plan. This position demands a proactive approach, with the ability to influence external stakeholders and maintain a focus on both the big picture and the day-to-day details that contribute to the successful development of communities.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the Land team, along with Regional and Division President to assess the feasibility of potential land purchases.
  • Manage entitlement and site selection, due diligence review, underwriting, and approvals for proposed new land acquisitions.
  • Network with developers, brokers, landowners, and other builders to determine new land opportunities for DWH.
  • Maintain a high level of visibility in the home building business, actively participating in the community, civic and business organizations pertinent to the industry.
  • Manage and oversee the development of active projects from acquisition to lot delivery (100% owned projects).
  • Visit each newly presented opportunity and evaluate how this opportunity fits with DWH business plan.

Requirements

  • 5 years work experience in residential land acquisitions, analysis, development or brokerage experience within the San Antonio area
  • Bachelor's degree required- preferably in Finance, Business, Economics, Real Estate, Land Development, Law, or related fields
  • MBA or JD strongly preferred
  • Considerable initiative, independence, and intuition
  • Proficiency in interpreting and analyzing financial reports
  • Confident with numbers and MS Excel
  • Excellent work practices with respect to organization, prioritization, and communication
  • Driven to push for results with a measured sense of urgency
  • Ability to see the Big Picture while maintaining focus on the day-to-day details that result in a successfully developed community
  • Ability to influence a large number of external people to put your priorities first, with tempered assertiveness
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional, calm demeanor, with a win-win attitude
